Marous Brothers Construction (MBC) is seeking a self-motivated Project Safety Specialist for our $100M+ Student Housing project in the heart of The Ohio State University. Responsibilities
  • Be on-site daily to lead safety on the jobsite, identify hazards quickly, and align crews with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and company safety expectations.
  • Develop, update, and execute Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JHAs), and risk assessments in close collaboration with field operations.
  • Coach teams through high-risk activities (e.g., fall protection, trenching, crane work, confined spaces, hot work) and conduct orientations and toolbox talks to foster a strong safety mindset.
  • Respond to incidents or near misses with root-cause analysis and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors to maintain alignment on safety objectives.
  • Log inspections, monitor trends, and deliver clear, actionable safety reports using safety software and Microsoft 365.
What You'll Need
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926) and applicable state regulations.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP).
  • Experience conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHA/JSA) and risk assessments for construction activities.
  • Proven ability to perform routine and unannounced site safety inspections and audits.
  • Knowledge of high-risk construction activities including fall protection, trenching & excavation, crane operations, confined space, and hot work.
  • Experience delivering new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and site-specific training.
  • Ability to investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events and complete root cause analysis.
  • Strong documentation skills including safety reports, corrective action tracking, and regulatory logs.
  • Ability to monitor subcontractor safety compliance and enforce company safety expectations.
  • Confident communicator capable of coaching field personnel and exercising stop-work authority when needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage safety efforts across multiple active projects.
  • Proficiency with safety management software, mobile inspection tools, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification.
  • Prior experience supporting commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements (SWPPP, spill prevention, hazardous materials).
