Position Summary
The Safety Director will lead, develop, and oversee the company's safety program across all active job sites and operations. This individual will serve as a key member of the leadership team, driving proactive safety initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations across all job sites
- Conduct jobsite safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans
- Partner with project teams, superintendents, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices
- Deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and leadership coaching
- Track, analyze, and report safety metrics (EMR, TRIR, DART, near misses, etc.)
- Oversee subcontractor safety prequalification and compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and safety consultants
- Stay current on industry best practices and emerging safety standards
- 5+ years of construction safety experience
- Strong background in commercial construction (healthcare, industrial, higher education, or large-scale commercial projects preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/510, CSP, CHST, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred
- Proven ability to influence field leadership and build a strong safety culture
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel to regional job sites as needed
