Commercial Construction
Location: Columbus, OH (with regional travel as needed)

Position Summary

The Safety Director will lead, develop, and oversee the company's safety program across all active job sites and operations. This individual will serve as a key member of the leadership team, driving proactive safety initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations across all job sites
  • Conduct jobsite safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans
  • Partner with project teams, superintendents, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices
  • Deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and leadership coaching
  • Track, analyze, and report safety metrics (EMR, TRIR, DART, near misses, etc.)
  • Oversee subcontractor safety prequalification and compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and safety consultants
  • Stay current on industry best practices and emerging safety standards
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Strong background in commercial construction (healthcare, industrial, higher education, or large-scale commercial projects preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/510, CSP, CHST, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to influence field leadership and build a strong safety culture
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel to regional job sites as needed
