Now, we’re looking for a skilled Project Surveyor to take the lead on critical field operations across complex construction projects. In this role, you’ll be responsible for precise layout and control at every stage of building and site development. From deep foundations to topographic scans, you’ll ensure layout accuracy, maintain quality control, and apply cutting-edge survey technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide project with site control, elevations, building grid, survey calculations, layout of deep foundation piles, footings, walls, columns, vertical decks, embeds, vertical control and elevations, civil site construction, mechanical sleeves and boxouts, floor control, and anchor bolts. Also, topographic survey’s, scanning, QA/QC checks, and all critical measurements.
  • Manage all layout, records, and ensure that all work is performed in an efficient, accurate, and professional manner, eliminating rework.
  • Prioritize incoming requests for control and layout, train and delegate to PE’s and Co-ops, to accomplish timely measurement and drive schedule.
  • Maintain accurate data files and spreadsheets, foundation, and structure as-builts, providing real-time, actionable intelligence for fast corrections of construction.
  • Implementation of robots, the identification and training of co-ops, foremen, and superintendents on practical and accurate use of robotic total stations.
  • Record/track, layout time per task, daily time log, daily drawing changes.
  • Training for purposely assigned co-ops, per survey co-op onboarding protocol.
  • Perform regular checks of onsite equipment, such as pegging auto levels and servicing equipment by expiration date tag.
  • Scanning, as needed, per Survey and VDC Department.
  • Provide proven control to subcontractors, per contract documents.
  • Assist Surveying with establishment of startup control.
  • Coordinate with superintendents; daily communication of project schedule and work progress.
  • Oversees daily field operations of project survey crew.
  • As schedule allows assist and develop training protocols, implementing new technology and processes, occasionally assist Danis Surveying on other projects as deemed necessary.
Qualifications

What You Bring

Skills and Abilities:

  • Competent skillset in operating builders’ level, total station, robotic total stations, scanners, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Point Layout software.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specs to keep up to date with drawing changes, bulletins and RFI’s.
  • Thorough understanding of company operations, industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on the success of the company.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and planning skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Surveying, or NSPS/CST Certificate.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in Building Construction and Site Surveying.
