Camp Indigo – Teen Leaders (Summer 2026)

Camp Indigo is a first‑day day camp for transgender and gender nonconforming youth. We are looking for Teen Leaders to guide a group of 20‑30 campers, fostering safety, fun, and community.

• Lead a group of 15‑30 teens throughout the week in partnership with 1‑2 additional staff
• Create and maintain a fun, respectful team environment where teens feel safe and empowered to build community, create, and laugh together
• Organize and lead team activities including art, crafts, team building, games, and other creative programming
• Escort campers to off‑campus activities and keep them safe on and off camp grounds
• Manage checkout and develop friendly relationships with campers’ guardians
• Assist with daily setup and cleanup of camp

• Experience and familiarity with the transgender youth community
• Experience working with teenagers required – ideally teaching, mentorship, or leading programs for the age group
• Comfort and confidence in leading off‑camp travel, including coordinating buses and/or parent drivers and ensuring safety communication
• Ability to match the energy, humor, and needs of 12‑17 year olds in a camp‑appropriate fashion
• Practice “Yes Leadership” – proactively improving the program and experience for campers and peers
• Outgoing, energetic, and introverted personalities all welcome – adapt to camper energy needs
• Clear, effective communication and conflict resolution skills; ally to the camp community
• Reliability and punctuality; camp runs 1‑4 weeks depending on location
• Willingness to try new things; excited about imperfect moments
• Strong emotional intelligence; hold space for campers’ mental health needs
• First aid/CPR certified preferred

8:00‑16:00 Monday‑Friday during scheduled camp weeks. Preferred staff can work all weeks in their chosen location. Locations and dates (June 1 – July 31)—Boulder, CO;

• Hourly rate by location: $21.81/hr (Boulder, CO), $23.50/hr (Oakland, CA), $17.70/hr (Columbus, OH), $18.13/hr (Minneapolis, MN), $20.80/hr (Austin, TX), $23.50/hr (Long Beach, CA)
• Returning staff earn $.50 more per hour per year worked up to 10 years
