Job DetailsJob Title: Purchasing Specialist
Department: Purchasing
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Pay Grade
Job Summary and Primary ObjectivesObtain quotes, negotiate prices, and place purchase orders. Follow up on orders; resolve quality and delivery issues. Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments. Seek and achieve cost savings with new and existing suppliers. Assist in developing internal processes and procedures. Conduct supplier evaluations. Travel is required to and from suppliers or potential suppliers.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Oversee stockroom and MRO buying.
- Obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and place purchase orders.
- Conduct annual price reviews with vendors and maintain all contracts.
- Follow up on orders; resolve quality and delivery issues.
- Work closely with requisitioners within RFI.
- Seek and achieve cost saving opportunities with new and existing suppliers.
- Improve existing purchasing procedures.
- Conduct supplier evaluations.
- Maintain new item set up and QAD pricelist for certain items.
- Recommend and implement purchasing process improvements.
- Travel is required.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Good aptitude for math.
- Good analytical skills and detail oriented.
- Highly motivated work ethic and positive attitude.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in related area or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience buying supplies & services for manufacturing facility.
- Proven record of cost reduction activities.
