Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Grants Accounting & Reporting, the Senior Accountant performs complex accounting transactions according to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as Federal and State regulations, and funder requirements. This position works closely with the Grants Administration department and employees that administer grants on behalf of the College. The Senior Accountant assists the Assistant Director as needed and provides guidance and serves as support to other members of the department.
This role encompasses the ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies or inaccuracies.

Compensation: $71,967.00
- Maintains financial compliance with federal and state regulations and internal guidelines related to the disbursement, reporting, and reconciliation of grant funding at the College.
- Interprets federal grant regulations, as well as grant contracts and agreements. Prepares and reviews financial reports as required by federal grant regulations and grant contracts and agreements.
- Provides required information for the annual external audit. Coordinates preparation of the Schedule of Federal Expenditures (SEFA) for the College Single Audit.
- Assists leadership of the Grants Accounting team by providing guidance and helping to troubleshoot challenges, interpret regulations, and other direction as needed.
- Acts as an advocate for process improvement via accountant engagement. Acts as a point of contact for dispute resolution with suppliers and funders.
- Documents and approves business transactions to the general ledger and grant accounts. Analyzes, investigates, and corrects accounting entries as needed.
- Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation. Supports identifying gaps in business processes and escalating them to the Assistant Director.
- Applies accounting expertise to enhance technical abilities in ERP.
- Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Attends all required department meetings and trainings.
- Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity while meeting federal and state, as well as internal regulations and procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changing needs of the College and business partners.
- Hours may include working outside of a normal workweek schedule to support workload. Works overtime as needed to meet business demands.
- Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.
- Associate’s degree in accounting.
- Four (4) years of related experience.
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
- An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
