Overview

This role is hired on a Success Flex basis and requires residence within 35 miles of Columbus, OH.

Work schedule:

2 days in office, 3 days remote. This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization; STEM OPT extensions are not available.

Responsibilities
  • Understand tools used for associate upskilling (e.g., Power Apps, Power Query, Power Automate, Cloud, RPA, Gen AI).
  • Develop innovative solutions across Controllership and Finance to address high-priority challenges and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate research and implementation of new/revised accounting policies and procedures.
  • Enhance job performance and workflow through recommendations.
  • Advise senior management on complex accounting transactions and reporting.
  • Lead projects for new/enhanced systems and processes.
  • Provide financial data analysis to solve administrative and operating problems.
  • Prepare complex financial information for auditors, IRS, state examiners, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct technical accounting research for financial statements and related data.
  • Implement new GAAP and STAT accounting changes.
  • Participate in industry trade groups and ensure accounting compliance with external auditors and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries from state insurance departments, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage special projects as advised by senior management and provide updates/presentations to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance or business administration; accounting major and degree preferred.
  • License/Certification/Designation: Progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Experience: Four to six years of related accounting experience; insurance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge, Abilities and

    Skills:

    GAAP and/or STAT knowledge; complex financial statement preparation; taxation considerations; accounting software systems; strong verbal and written communication; ability to analyze and solve accounting problems; project management skills; ability to interpret financial reporting and regulatory changes; strong computer skills; ability to apply accounting principles to complex problems.
  • Other criteria, including leadership skills, may take precedence. Staffing exceptions require approval by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
