Position Summary:
Perform first piece inspections, line audits, non-conforming product holds, and statistical sampling to assure that the manufacturing operations are meeting the quality system and product requirements. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English.

Duties/Responsibilities (may not be applicable based on department assignment):
- Provide guidance and input to manufacturing and management for quality issues.
- Aide in the training of associates to ensure that they are meeting the quality systems and product requirements.
- Support C2C compliance activities for the department and self.
- Support product complaint investigations and corrective actions.
- Contribute with continuous improvement activities (i.e., Kaizens, blitz, validations etc.).
- Trend quality metrics and investigate specific problem areas to provide corrective action.
- Apply and interpret ANSI Z1.4 and other sampling plans for predicting percent defective and lot acceptance criteria.
- Conduct line audits to assure compliance to the quality system.
- Assist in creating visual instructions.
- Conduct proper filing of documentation and react to urgent matters responsibly.
- Must be familiar with specifications and documentation associated with operations of this position.
- Comply with plant CGMP and department protective clothing, safety, and management policies.
- Must be familiar with the quality policy and procedures.
- Must be able to prepare and control Master Defects for the production lines.
- Must exhibit and portray the BD Values.
- Assist in validation processes and conduct machine and process capability studies on equipment.
- Assist and support team and departmental plant needs and goals.
- Communicate daily with prior and post shift Quality Control Representatives.
- Adjustable / flexible work schedule as needed by manufacturing operation requirements
- Support internal/ external audits.
- Create/update Quality Notifications in SAP.
- Create Certificates in SAP.
- Release products for sale in SAP.
- Create Global Holds in SAP.
- Perform first piece inspection of molded parts with the smart scope, optical comparator.
- Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
- High School diploma/GED required
- Associates degree preferred
- None required
- Previous experience with product and process specifications preferred
- Ability to learn methods of various inspection tests, gauges, etc.
- Proficient - Computer skills including excel, word and power point - Proficient
- Strong team player exhibiting flexibility and leadership, ability to work independently - Proficient
- Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of personnel, including customers and auditors - Proficient
- Good working knowledge of product and manufacturing processes with ability to interpret drawings and specifications preferred
- Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of quality processes and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) preferred
- Familiar with process control tools, methods, and inspection equipment/tools (i.e., Comparator, Smart-Scope, Instron, etc.) preferred
- Fundamentals of Quality System Regulations (QSR) and International Standards of Operation (ISO) regulations preferred
- Six Sigma knowledge preferred
- Hypo department: PCP Level 2
