Aircraft / GSE Mechanic - CBA - T-6 COMBS (Columbus AFB)
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following duties. Additional essential functions may be identified by the organization and listed as such in the incumbent’s performance appraisal element. Various tasks may be assigned under each essential function.
- Inspecting and repairing ground support equipment
- Installing and removing Quick Engine Change (QEC) kits on aircraft engines
- Dealing with coworkers, clients, and the public
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Performing engine QEC buildup actions, both assembly and tear down
- Using automated maintenance data systems to maintain equipment records and document maintenance actions
- Inspecting, testing, and operating GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
- Servicing equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air
- Disassembling and assembling malfunctioning GSE accessories and components
- Removing, disassembling, repairing, cleaning, treating for corrosion, assembling, and reinstalling GSE components and accessories
- Stenciling and marking GSE in accordance with technical publications
- Disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations
- Operating, cleaning, inspecting, and servicing GSE towing vehicles
- Practicing good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times
- Completing all required documentation and tagging requirements of QEC items
- Ordering QEC parts from COMBS
- Referring to technical publications to determine specifications to be met
- Tracking and recording calibration dates to ensure that support equipment is up to date
- Keeping files with documentation and certifications of calibrated equipment
- Ensuring that equipment is sent out for calibration when due
- Ensuring that all equipment is accounted for
- Assigning I.D. numbers to each piece of equipment
- Performing maintenance and inspections on GSE according to applicable maintenance manuals, manufacturer specifications, and FAA regulations
- Researching and ordering materials for repair of support equipment
- Preparing GSE for storage and transportation
- Other duties as assigned
- Abiding by all Company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required Skills include the ability to):
- Understand scheduling techniques and technical order requirements
- Accurately troubleshoot and repair complex aircraft engine/support equipment systems
- Read and understand detailed technical publications and instructions
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Deal courteously with customers
- Have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles sufficient to perform the job duties and tasks associated with the position
- Have knowledge of contractual requirements
- Have extensive working knowledge in logistics and data information systems
- Education and Experience:
- Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED)
- Thirty-six months in one or more of the maintenance trades or three years of recent aircraft maintenance experience
- Valid FAA Airframe and Power plant Certificate
