Job Description

Airbus Helicopters is looking for an Aircraft Sheet metal Technician to join our New Helicopter Completions (NHC) team based in Columbus, MS
.

You will be part of the team to perform work on assigned aircraft, assemblies, and parts in the sheet metal area.

On the eastern border of Mississippi you'll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It's here that we produce the UH‑72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H‑125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your Challenges
  • Read detailed plans and diagrams and inspect and measure parts prior to assembly, ensuring parts are free of defects and the right size.
  • Install sheet‑metal parts and assemblies in aircraft; assure that installations are attached without endangering aircraft structure or systems operations and functions.
  • Fit and assemble skins, frames, and other components. Work will consist of drilling, fitting, and riveting of the many sub‑assemblies of the helicopter, including such items as tail booms and stabilizers.
  • Cut, file, drill, and ream metal, plastic, and rubber sections to prepare them for fastening.
Your Boarding Pass
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience; some experience may be substituted for education normally acquired in the attainment of an A&P license or a degree directly related to aircraft sheet metal or composite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in the fabrication and repair modifications of aircraft structures and repairs.
  • Current Airframe or Powerplant license is a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Physical Requirements
  • Onsite: 95%
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment, read documents, reports and engineering drawings on a daily basis.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms on a daily basis.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications on a daily basis.
  • Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts on a daily basis.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools on a daily basis.
