Job Summary

Alcona Middle/High School is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Agricultural Science Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. This full‑time position involves teaching middle and high school students about agricultural science concepts, practices, and technologies. The ideal candidate will inspire students to engage with the agricultural industry, promote sustainable practices, and develop critical thinking and problem‑solving skills in real‑world agricultural scenarios.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive agricultural science curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes student engagement.
  • Teach a variety of subjects related to agricultural science, including but not limited to plant science, animal science, agronomy, and environmental sustainability.
  • Create hands‑on learning experiences through laboratory work, field trips, and agricultural projects.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support to foster academic growth.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate agricultural science concepts into interdisciplinary projects.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as FFA (Future Farmers of America) and other agricultural clubs.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are properly managed.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the community regarding student progress and program initiatives.
  • Stay current with advancements in agricultural science and incorporate relevant technologies and practices into the curriculum.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of agricultural education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Education, or a related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Agricultural Education or relevant subject area.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, principles, and technologies.
  • Experience in teaching or working with middle and high school students is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Familiarity with FFA or similar agricultural organizations is a plus.
