Overview
Job Description Summary Under the direction of the Director for Student Life, the
Advises international student association and assists with programs related to the group.
Responsibilities- Organizes cultural transition programming for fall and spring semesters.
- Ensures that website content is up to date and accurate.
- Serves as the point of contact for international students after admission and throughout enrollment.
- Assesses international students' needs and advocates for support throughout matriculation.
- Works with campus departments and faculty in connection with programming and initiatives for international students.
- Maintains general knowledge base of government regulations regarding matters relating to F-1 students.
- Checks international students course schedule.
- Advises and supports Student Government Association ( SGA) leaders, leadership development and training of officers, upholding mission.
- Serves as a resource for SGA to ensure compliance with internal processes and controls.
- Travels with SGA as needed.
- Develops budget for SGA.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of Engagement to engage commuter students.
- Advises the Student Programming Board ( SPB).
- Hires, trains, and supervises the SPB Intern.
- Coordinates cultural programming related to nationally recogni ed history months and holidays.
- Serves as liaison to assigned campus office(s) to collaborate on programs and initiatives.
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in student personnel, higher education, or related field preferred
- Requires more than 1 year of experience.
- Some experience in student life or student affairs preferred
- Experience in international student relations and knowledge of F-1 visas, CPT and OPT preferred
- Computer skills and strong human relations and communication skills (speaking and writing) are essential
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
