YOU MUST HOLD A VALID INDIANA NURSING LICENSE FOR THIS POSITION

ASSIGNMENT:
Provides health care to school population at various BCSC locations, as needed, in conjunction with the health services philosophy in accordance with the Indiana Nurse Practice Act for Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses.

SUPERVISED BY:
Director of Health Services. School Nurse Substitute must function within the school setting by reporting to the school principal for site specific requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Implement standing orders for emergency first aid and acute illness.

2. Triage and document visits to the nurse's office by the students. Administer treatment in accordance with approved policies and procedures.

3. Ensures confidentiality of health records in the school population.

4. Administer medications as ordered by physician. Document on medication record sheet. Review allergies for students and staff.

5. Check students for pediculosis as necessary. Follow district policy and procedures based on findings.

6. Work with office staff/principal regarding accident and workman's compensation reports. Follow up should be done by school nurse or principal.

Qualification

Must hold a valid Indiana Nursing License

CPR certification preferred

Terms of Employment:
Temporary
4 to 6.5 Hours per day as needed
Grade 17 on Classified Staff Salary Matrix

Starting Hourly Rate Placement: $24.47
