Mechanical Engineer, Product Engineer
Job Description About the Role
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer – Current Product Support Engineer who brings together excellent communication skills, strong problem‑solving and solution‑providing capability, and product knowledge of aftertreatment devices including the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. This role demands a technically strong engineer who can lead investigations, propose solutions, and align cross‑functional teams across design, manufacturing, supply base, and service.
Responsibilities- Lead Technical Investigations & Provide Solutions
- Investigate field, plant, and supplier issues related to aftertreatment components and subsystems; identify issues and propose effective, data‑driven solutions.
- Translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for design, manufacturing, quality, or supplier actions.
- Communicate complex problems and solutions clearly to both engineering and non‑technical audiences.
- Apply CPS Tools & Engineering Processes
- Lead and execute Current Product Support activities using Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, FIRG (7 Step problem solving), and structured Product Problem Solving.
- Ensure durable corrective actions, proper documentation, and mitigation of recurrence across aftertreatment product lines.
- Deliver Validation & Confirm Corrective Actions
- Support test plan creation, component or subsystem testing, data review, and validation of corrective actions.
- Ensure root cause is thoroughly verified through analysis or experimental testing aligned with CPS expectations.
- Cross‑Functional Technical Leadership
- Partner with design engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, service engineering, and technical managers to drive alignment and ensure rapid, high‑quality decisions.
- Provide clear communication and leadership during containment, resolution, and implementation activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Understanding of DOC, DPF, and SCR function, design considerations, validation tests, durability risks, and system interactions in aftertreatment architecture.
- Experience with mechanical systems, emissions components, or related product areas.
- Ability to translate product behaviour into actionable CPS solutions.
- Outstanding communication skills — written, verbal, and cross‑functional.
- Demonstrated ability to provide solutions, not just identify problems.
- Capable of leading discussions across stakeholders and influencing action.
- Working knowledge of CAD software Creo and Windchill (PLM).
- Prior involvement with Current Product Support, quality engineering, field issue resolution, or aftertreatment component troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with engineering process disciplines such as iDFMEA, design reviews, and lifecycle execution rigor.
