Job Title: Engineering Leader – Manufacturing (Automotive)
Location: Columbus, Indiana, United States
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $170,000 annually

The Engineering Leader is responsible for directing and advancing the engineering function to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations while meeting customer and business requirements. This role oversees daily engineering activities, supports new product launches, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and develops a high‑performing engineering team. The Engineering Leader partners closely with internal teams and customers to enhance performance, productivity, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage day‑to‑day operations of the engineering function
- Coordinate and direct engineering activities across production, quality, and launch initiatives
- Serve as the primary technical resource for engineers during new product launches
- Evaluate existing processes and products to identify and implement improvement opportunities
- Review engineering changes and product releases; recommend appropriate gauges and equipment to meet specifications and tolerances
- Apply precision measurement tools, statistical methods, and quality techniques to achieve engineering objectives
- Track, analyze, and report quality performance metrics including scrap, rework, rejects, and supplier performance
- Establish performance indicators and oversee supplier‑related programs for raw materials and tooling
- Lead and facilitate cross‑functional problem‑solving and corrective action teams
- Promote professional development, training, and growth of engineering team members
- Support and actively participate in Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material handling, quality standards, and safety practices
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop technical teams
- Working knowledge of SPC, Control Plans, APQP, and PPAP
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Experience with TS16949/IATF 16949 standards and related documentation
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, and 5S
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
