Your missionThe VP - Engineering will lead Dorel Juvenile’s engineering team in the development of cutting‑edge juvenile safety products. The VP - Engineering position is located in Columbus, IN.
Key responsibilities- Lead Dorel Juvenile’s engineering team in the development of cutting‑edge juvenile safety products.
- Formulate and implement engineering strategies that align with Dorel Juvenile’s objectives while providing mentorship and technical guidance to a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Oversee the full product development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, quality assurance protocols, and customer experience requirements throughout design, testing, and production phases.
- Provide leadership on optimizing product designs for performance and on product development practices and tools, including Finite Element simulation, GD&T, DVP&R, and FMEA.
- Develop and manage the engineering budget; lead efforts to enhance in‑house prototyping and testing capabilities.
- The position requires domestic and international travel up to 15% of the work schedule at various unanticipated locations based on business needs.
- At a minimum, a U.S. Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
- 5 years’ experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- 5 years’ experience managing engineering resources focused on new product design and existing product redesign in a safety focused, consumer products or automotive environment.
- 5 years’ experience managing the development of juvenile safety product engineering, development of juvenile product prototypes, and juvenile occupant ergonomics complying with FMVSS and CMVSS regulatory standards and safety certifications.
- 5 years’ experience managing Engineering CAD and maturing designs while working directly with CAE/FEA practices focused on product development.
- 5 years’ experience working with test procedures in internal and external crash (sled) labs focused on restraints and seating system development.
