Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for a skilled Controller to join a dynamic construction firm in Columbus, Indiana. In this role, you will oversee and manage comprehensive accounting operations while ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and has extensive experience in construction accounting and financial management.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

- Implement and maintain construction accounting practices to align with industry standards.

- Monitor and analyze job costing data to ensure accurate tracking of project expenses.

- Prepare and reconcile balance sheets to maintain financial accuracy and transparency.

- Record and review journal entries to ensure proper documentation of financial transactions.

- Utilize Viewpoint Vista software for streamlined accounting operations and reporting.

- Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support for ongoing projects.

- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for executive review.

- Lead and mentor accounting team members to ensure attention to detail and operational efficiency. Requirements - A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the construction industry.

- Proficiency in full-cycle accounting processes, including month-end close and financial reporting.

- Strong knowledge of job costing and construction accounting principles.

- Experience in balance sheet reconciliation and journal entry preparation.

- Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista or similar accounting software.

- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
