Assembler Programmer

Technical Lead

Write, test, and maintain high quality assembler code for mainframe applications. Ensure code meets functional and performance requirements. Create and maintain clear documentation for code, process, and system interactions. Work closely with other developers, system analysts, and project managers to understand requirements. Participate in code reviews and contribute to team discussions. Write and manage JCL scripts for job submissions, data processing, and system operations.

Ensure code complies with organizational standards and best practices for security, performance, and maintainability. Responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining assembler language.

Competencies:

• Mainframe DB2 - Application Development
• System Z - Enterprise COBOL

Experience (Years): 10 & above

• Proficiency in IBM Assembler Language with strong knowledge and experience in writing and debugging assembler programs.
• Expertise in using tools like IBM Debug Tool or equivalent debugging utilities effectively.
• Skills in optimizing assembler code for better performance and ability to convert to other mainframe languages (COBOL, PL/1) used in conjunction with Assembler.
• Experience in JCL (Job control language) for job submission and file handling in mainframe environments.
• Familiarity with IBM z/OS and related environments; knowledge of databases and data management systems (DB2).
• Precision in problem-solving, coding, troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Effective team collaboration and communication skills.

• Knowledge of other low-level languages such as C or C++ is a plus.
