Overview
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. The staff nurse works within the organization’s policies and procedures and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse maintains standards of practice and coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff to provide quality nursing care.
ResponsibilitiesAs part of the care team, the staff nurse delivers direct patient care, participates in care coordination, and supports ongoing patient assessment and documentation in accordance with nursing processes.
Qualifications- Graduate from a nursing program Required
- Bachelors Degree Preferred
- No experience required. New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
- Nursing experience in hospital setting preferred
- 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Required
- RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
- Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
- Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification required;
Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date (within 180 days) - Critical Care: ACLS Certification required;
Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date (within 180 days) - Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred
- Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification required;
Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date; experienced ED nurses will have 6 months to obtain PALS certification (within 180 days) - Infusion/Oncology:
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration upon hire - Pediatrics: PALS Certification required; PEARS or PALS Certification required at Piedmont facilities within 180 days; PEARS or PALS within 180 days; NRP by end of orientation period as applicable
- Surgical Services:
Pre Op/PACU/ENDO/CSU ACLS; PALS if unit cares for pediatrics (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete within 6 months) or BLS required only within 180 Days - Womens Services:
Labor and Delivery ACLS; NRP by end of orientation period; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months; NICU, NAT, Nursery NRP by end of orientation period within 180 Days
