Position: RN Telemetry- FT nights

Job Summary

  • Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical‑surgical setting. Communicates with physicians, nurse manager, and co‑workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology.
  • Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Essential Functions
  • Maintains accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces likelihood of medical or healthcare errors.
  • Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over patient lifespans and the skills to provide age‑appropriate care.
  • Interprets data about patient status to identify age‑specific needs and provide suitable care.
  • Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in care planning.
  • Performs complete head‑to‑toe assessments and reassessments per policy for pediatric, geriatric, and general populations.
  • Assesses and reassesses pain, utilizes appropriate pain‑management techniques, and educates patients and families.
  • Knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Follows the six medication rights and reduces potential for medication errors.
  • Formulates individualized care plans, revises based on patient response, and evaluates overall effectiveness daily.
  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Communicates clearly to charge nurse, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Assists physicians with procedures.
Non‑Essential Functions
  • Ensures adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Responsible for minor housekeeping as needed.
Organizational Expectations
  • Optimizes patient safety and reduces likelihood of errors.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Complies with all organizational policies.
  • Completes annual education, OSHA, and infection control requirements; maintains regulatory compliance.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives and maintain good employee relations.
  • Communicates and adheres to ES1, Mission and Vision, Core Values, Code of Conduct, Professional Appearance Standards, and Ethics and Goals of the facility.
  • Reports to work on time, follows schedule, and completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty and uses computerized punch‑time system correctly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (Required). Bachelors Degree (Preferred).
  • Required

    Licenses/Certifications:

    Current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or current Compact State Registered Nurse license;
    American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required within 90 days);
    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (required within 90 days).
  • Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision; flexible and organized; able to work in a stressful environment; strong written and verbal communication.
