Overview

Your Opportunity as an Operator 1 and Production Utility Worker

As a part of the Hostess Plant Production Team, you are responsible for several bakery manufacturing activities. As an Operator 1-Production and Utility Production worker, you must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, communicate and work effectively in a team, and be flexible in work assignments within the operator and production category. This may include roles such as Pan Setter, Feeder, Packer/Carton, Packer/Cases, Shipping Stacker, Handler, Sanitor, Receiver, Palletizer, Mixer, Fryer, Oven Operator, Wrap Operator, Depositor, Scaler, VFFS, Pearson, Vari Straight Right/Left, Enrober, Forklift, Yard Dog.

You must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions, safely and accurately complete assigned duties, and maintain GMP standards. You will be a part of the Food Defense Team.

Columbus, GA Bakery

Operator 1-Production: $20.94 per hour, shift differential $0.50 per hour

Production Utility: $19.51 per hour, shift differential $0.50 per hour

Operator 1-Production

• 100% onsite (12-hour shifts)
• 1st Shift (6am-6pm)
• 2nd Shift (6pm-6am)
• Rotating days, average 2-4 days a week
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed, including weekends.

Production Utility

• 100% onsite (12-hour shifts)
• 1st Shift (6am-6pm)
• 2nd Shift (6pm-6am)
• Rotating days, average 3 days a week
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed, including weekends

• Responsible for setting up operation of bakery equipment/manufacturing line, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products per production guidelines.
• Ensures compliance with Production/Packaging procedures and practices, and inspects all areas within one line/equipment for operational or mechanical issues.
• Reports equipment issues to the supervisor or manager as soon as possible.
• Completes and submits reports throughout the day regarding production.
• Visually inspects product for quality and quantity.
• Monitors runs and performs basic troubleshooting on bakery equipment.
• Supports quality control programs to ensure production procedures follow food safety and quality standards.
• Understands and complies with all safety procedures that apply to daily operations.
• Works safely; follows proper lock out/tag out procedures where applicable.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment by adhering to safety policy and GMP procedures.
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, coworkers, etc.
• Adheres to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.

• Works as a helper on a production line in various roles (e.g., Helper, Indexer, Feeder, Packer, Catcher).
• Performs various manual tasks to grasp, lift, move, place, and stack items related to production processes.
• Feeds, catches and monitors continuous/repetitive steps on the production line.
• Supports quality control programs and follows GMP procedures.
• Visually inspects product to ensure adherence to food safety and quality standards.
• May assist with cleaning and sanitation of equipment and environment pre- and post-production.
• Reports equipment issues to the supervisor as soon as possible.
• Understands and complies with all safety procedures, including lock out/tag out, wall protection, required PPE, etc.
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, coworkers, etc.
• May perform other duties not listed.

All tools and equipment required to be used by employees shall be supplied and kept in repair by the Employer at no cost to the employee. These items must be kept on the premises.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 1-2 years of mechanical and/or technical skills required for Operator 1-Production role.
• Ability to rotate workdays throughout the week including weekends.
• Proven track record of good attendance.
• Capability to work well in a team environment and be willing to help solve problems and implement solutions.
