You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The role works under the guidance of the Center Manager and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues.

The Medical Support Specialist is familiar with plasma collection industry regulations and follows Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance, providing center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs, follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician's standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed for unacceptable findings or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation required by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance for employee incidents.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats in the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate-level recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
