POSITION TITLE: Teacher, Middle/High School Theatre/Drama

FLSA: Exempt

SALARY: Teacher Salary Schedule

LOCATION: Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts

REPORTS TO: Principal

Responsible for creating a classroom environment to develop an appreciation of Drama as part of general culture; to teach techniques of Drama expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of Drama; and to develop knowledge and skills in Drama.

• Instructs all students and ensures each student's progress with as much individualization as possible.
• Teaches courses in Drama utilizing curriculum designated by Muscogee County School District.
• Develops lesson plans to include a balanced Drama program and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished.
• Adapts the curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual students.
• Evaluates each student's growth and performance, assessing each student's contribution to the performance of the group.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps accurate and appropriate records to include report cards, checklists, etc.
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide orderly, productive classroom environment during practice, group rehearsals, and Drama performances.
• Plans, rehearses, and directs students in Drama programs for the school and community.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
• Seeks to improve through professional development and evaluation activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
