The Physical Activity and Wellness Program offers a variety of activity and wellness‑focused academic‑credit courses to hundreds of students at Columbus State University each term. Part‑time adjunct instructors in the Physical Activity and Wellness Program teach sections of Lifetime Wellness and/or specific activity courses (Weightlifting, Yoga, Jogging, etc.) based on their qualifications as well as student demand and need.
We are currently looking for additional qualified and passionate faculty who embody CSU's values to join our adjunct pool as paid part‑time instructors teaching as needed in the following areas:
- KINS 1106 - Lifetime Wellness - This course supports students in understanding their personal health behaviors through an interdisciplinary lens of health and well‑being.
- PEDS 1*** - Physical Activity Courses - Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Martial Arts, Weightlifting (USPA, CSCS, etc.), Group Fitness, Dance, Team Sports (Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Flag Football), Recreational Sports, Cycling, Jogging, Swimming and other water‑based activities, etc. Opportunities for unique courses are possible for those with appropriate qualifications and experience.
The Wellness Program encourages potential adjunct faculty to submit application materials at any time, though availability of positions and/or specific teaching assignments is contingent on program need. Any teaching agreements will be made on a need‑based, term‑by‑term basis.
ResponsibilitiesAdjunct faculty members may teach one or more credit hours each semester based on availability and student need. These courses may meet in the morning, during the day, or in the evening based on the adjunct faculty's availability and program/student need.
Required QualificationsAn earned graduate or terminal degree from an accredited university in Health Science, Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Counseling, or another field closely connected to Health and Wellness.
A sufficient combination of experience, certifications, and education may be considered.
Proposed SalaryThe salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position can work up to 19 hours per week.
