Position: Construction Materials Testing Technician I
Pay: $20/hr
General ResponsibilitiesPerform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with the Project Manager, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and other stakeholders regarding construction site activities, project requirements, and testing and inspection results.
Transport material samples with proper documentation to the laboratory for additional testing and analysis. Accurately tabulate, prepare, and submit written and digital reports as work is performed for daily review by the Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
May assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety and quality standards at all times.
EssentialRoles and Responsibilities
- Under close supervision of senior technicians or professional staff, assist with tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties.
- Provide clear and accurate documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and review data for accuracy prior to submission.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
- Progressively assume increased responsibility and training in work assignments.
- Maintain assigned equipment and ensure proper care and functionality.
- Operate company vehicles (e.g., pickup trucks or equivalent).
- Follow all safety rules, practices, and project-specific requirements.
- Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management immediately.
- Maintain quality standards on all assigned projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months of related experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Successful completion of required internal safety certifications.
