RN Wound Care/Treatment Nurse

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing, the Treatment Nurse is responsible for skin care of residents under the medical direction and supervision of the residents’ attending physicians or the Medical Director of the facility, with an emphasis on treatment and therapy of skin disorders.

• Current RN license by State required; experience in long‑term care or working with geriatric population preferred.
• Wound care or treatment certifications in the applicable state is preferred but we will certify the right applicants.

• Oversee all direct wound care activities to assure practices are consistent.
• Identify, plan, implement, and evaluate skin care in residents.
• Manage and treat specific skin disorders.
• Coordinate weekly skin rounds.
• Perform assessment evaluations using observation and inspection techniques.
• Confer with the Care Planning Team on the development of the care plan.
• Provide treatment for skin disorders within established wound care protocol.
• Monitor the use of preventive measures such as inspection, turning and positioning.
• Precept new nurses and demonstrate individual procedures to new nursing personnel.
• Order and track the usage of supplies/equipment in prevention and treatment.
• Assist in modifying the treatment regimen to meet the needs of the resident in accordance with established medical practices, regulatory guidelines, and the policies and goals of this facility.
• Provide information to residents and caregivers on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve the general health and psychosocial status of the resident.
