General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and maintaining a clean work area at all times.

The Area Supervisor also executes and supervises all company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Safety is the highest priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Correct or report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Report customer safety incidents and follow emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognize associates through company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code and ensure associates do the same.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and follow‑up.
  • Assist with receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Handle all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (e.g., signs, supplies, special deliveries).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Secure and process back‑stock per company policy.
  • Merchandise the department, including back‑stock, and reduce loss due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
  • Coordinate floor moves and promotional signing as needed.
  • Perform re‑wraps as necessary.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain an extensive customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, and credit card information.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor system properly.
  • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
