Position

Summary

The Elevated Slab & Post‑Tension Construction Superintendent is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all field operations related to elevated concrete slabs, post‑tension (PT) systems, and associated structural concrete scopes. This role leads crews, manages subcontractors, ensures compliance with schedules and specifications, enforces safety standards, and delivers high‑quality structural concrete work on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Construction Management
  • Plan, organize, and direct daily field activities for elevated slab and post‑tension concrete operations.
  • Supervise forming, shoring/reshoring, rebar installation, PT cable installation, stressing operations, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and stripping.
  • Coordinate sequencing of elevated deck pours, stressing cycles, reshoring plans, and back‑of‑house structural concrete scopes.
  • Ensure accurate layout, elevations, camber profiles, and slab thickness compliance.
  • Review and implement formwork, shoring, and reshoring plans per engineered drawings.
  • Maintain production efficiency while meeting quality and safety expectations.
Schedule & Cost Control
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop and maintain detailed look‑ahead schedules and pour plans.
  • Monitor labor productivity, material usage, and equipment utilization.
  • Forecast manpower needs and coordinate crew sizing to meet production goals.
  • Identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans.
  • Assist with tracking quantities, daily reports, and job cost feedback.
Quality Control
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, structural drawings, PT shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Verify proper installation of PT tendons, anchorages, rebar, embeds, sleeves, and blockouts.
  • Coordinate inspections, stressing logs, elongation measurements, and documentation.
  • Oversee concrete placement techniques, curing methods, and surface finish standards.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and design discrepancies.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times.
  • Conduct daily job hazard analyses (JHAs) and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure fall protection, shoring safety, formwork stability, and rigging compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free jobsite.
Team Leadership & Communication
  • Lead, mentor, and train field crews and foremen.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and other trades.
  • Communicate effectively with project management, owners, and design teams.
  • Resolve conflicts and maintain high morale and accountability among crews.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare daily field reports, manpower logs, and production tracking.
  • Maintain records for inspections, PT stressing, concrete testing, and as‑built conditions.
  • Assist with RFI development, change order documentation, and scope clarifications.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in structural concrete construction, with significant experience in elevated slabs and post‑tension systems.
  • Proven experience supervising formwork, rebar, PT installation, and concrete placement operations.
  • Strong understanding of PT shop drawings, stressing procedures, and elongation requirements.
  • Experience with multi‑story commercial, industrial, or parking structure projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineered shoring plans.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety best practices.
  • Proficiency in daily reporting, scheduling, and production tracking tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on high‑rise, podium slab, parking garage, or tilt‑up podium projects.
  • Familiarity with software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.
  • Experience coordinating PT stressing subcontractors and third‑party inspectors.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
