Master Scheduler

DescriptionASC Engineered Solutions is looking for a Master Scheduler who is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the production schedule to ensure on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with customer demand. This role serves as the central link between sales, operations, supply chain, and production teams, balancing customer requirements with shop floor capacity in a fast-paced machining/manufacturing environment.
How You Will Help- Production Scheduling
- Develop, publish, and maintain the master production schedule to align demand, capacity, and materials availability.
- Translate sales forecasts and customer orders into executable shop floor schedules.
- Manage schedule adherence and proactively adjust for changes in demand, equipment downtime, or material constraints.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with sales, supply chain, and operations to balance customer commitments with internal capabilities.
- Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and purchasing to ensure timely availability of raw materials and tooling.
- Communicate schedule priorities, changes, and risks to stakeholders.
- Capacity & Resource Planning
- Analyze capacity constraints, machine loading, and workforce requirements.
- Recommend adjustments such as overtime, subcontracting, or reallocation of resources when required.
- Monitor demonstrated lead time performance and recommend adjustments as required.
- Monitor WIP (work in process) and production flow to identify bottlenecks.
- Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report key scheduling metrics (OTD, schedule adherence, backlog, lead time).
- Implement best practices for scheduling, planning, and ERP/MRP system utilization.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead time and improve scheduling accuracy. Lead problem solving activities and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment (machine shop experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and production planning tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills to influence and align cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent skills and abilities to create and modify Excel files.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
