• BS in Education/Valid DESE Certification in Special Education Mild/Mod Cross Categorical required
• DESE Certification in Elementary 1-6 preferred

Special Education experience preferred

• Provide instruction to students according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
• Use instructional strategies to teach functional life skills
• Create and implement a classroom and/or individual disciplinary plan or behavior intervention plan
• Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction according to each student's needs
• Oversee and schedule paraprofessionals and personal assistants
• Participate in building, grade level and subject area committees
• Maintain accurate and compliant student records including IEPs, attendance, grades, and discipline
• Take personal responsibility for IEP compliance including Notification of Meetings, Timeline Waivers, Parental Safeguards, and accurate and timely completion of IEPs
• Complete and submit IEPs, forms, and required reports within expected time frames
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress towards goals and other educational successes or concerns
• Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team, or other student assistance teams as requested
• Implement IEPs and individual health plans as written
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board policy
• Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher
• Other duties as may be assigned
