Responsibilities
- Operate a trimmer machine to accurately trim and fine-grade subgrade material prior to paving
- Read and interpret grade stakes, stringline, and/or GPS machine control
- Work closely with survey crews, grade checkers, and paving crews to maintain correct elevations
- Maintain consistent grade and slope to meet project specifications and tolerances
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Adjust machine settings based on soil conditions, moisture, and material type
- Assist with pavement prep activities, including cleanup and minor hand work as needed
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and jobsite requirements
- Communicate effectively with foremen and superintendents regarding grade issues or corrections
- Travel required (Monday - Friday)
Qualifications
- Experience operating a trimmer or similar fine-grading equipment is a plus
- Experience in heavy highway, paving, or concrete operations
- Ability to understand grade stakes, plans, and basic construction drawings
- Knowledge of pavement prep processes and jobsite sequencing
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license required
