Big Bear.ai is seeking a Software Engineer 1 to join an ever-evolving project where you will design, develop, and deploy mission‑critical tools and solutions. This role involves working closely with customers to understand and support operational requirements, as well as analyzing large data sets to deliver mission‑centric insights. You will collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and other software engineers to integrate cutting‑edge technologies and solutions that drive impactful results.

- Team
Collaboration:
Work closely with the team to understand and address the needs of analysts and developers - Software Development: Design, architect, and implement robust and scalable software solutions that align with project objectives and requirements
- Optimization: Continuously improve and optimize the existing codebase to ensure high performance and maintainability
- Project Ownership: Independently drive projects, taking ownership of the entire development lifecycle
- Automation: Assist with automating development tasks and implementing CI/CD workflows and development best practices, such as testing
- Code Reviews: Perform thorough code reviews to ensure quality and compliance
- Stakeholder
Collaboration:
Elicit requirements from stakeholders to align solutions with mission objectives - Documentation: Write detailed documentation to support compliance processes and operational workflows
- Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI w/Polygraph
- Education & Experience:
- B.S. in a technical disciplineor4 additional years of experience in place of a degree
- 3 years of experience in production-grade software development
- Technical
Skills:- Proficiency inC/C++, Python, and Java
- Familiarity with version control systems like Gitfor collaborative development
- Experience using the command line inUNIX or Linux environments
- Experience working in multi-node networked environments
- Adaptability: Willingness and ability to learn and adapt quickly on the job, including internal systems unique to CNO
- Problem-Solving: A problem-solving mindset and a passion for delivering quality solutions
- CNO
Experience:
Experience working within theCNO customer space - Dev Ops Expertise: Familiarity with Dev Ops tools and processes, such as automated testing and CI/CD workflows
- Containerization:
Experience with service containerization and deployment using
Dockerand Kubernetes
