Hybrid Columbia Maryland plus remote

Hours:

10 to 20 hours per week;
Two weekend days per month required;
Occasional evenings;
Flexible schedule around classes

Paid part time hourly

Position Overview:

Respite Retreats is seeking a compassionate organized and confident Part Time Program Coordinator to support our mission of providing meaningful respite programs for individuals and families affected by cancer. This role is ideal for a student interested in nonprofit management, public health, social work, or community engagement. The Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting cancer patients and caregivers while independently coordinating, hosting, and executing monthly day retreats.

Responsibilities
  • Program Coordination and Participant Support
    • Process cancer patient and caregiver registration forms
    • Vet participants to ensure each retreat is an appropriate and supportive fit for both the participant and Respite Retreats
    • Communicate with participants before and after retreats including follow up outreach
  • Retreat Planning, Hosting and Implementation
    • Plan and implement two day-retreats per month
    • Serve as the onsite host for each retreat day welcoming participants and setting a warm supportive tone
    • Lead the flow of the day, make announcements and coordinate transitions between activities
    • Identify, coordinate and schedule retreat facilitators and volunteers
    • Shop for meals, retreat day supplies and program materials
    • Prepare and organize retreat materials in advance of each event
    • Independently handle retreat set up, day of coordination and clean up
  • Administrative Support
    • Maintain organized program and participant records
    • Assist with scheduling confirmations and logistics
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, volunteers, facilitators and participants
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled college student; preferred fields include nonprofit management, public health, social work, human services, business or related area
  • Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking, leading groups and hosting events
  • Compassionate and comfortable interacting with individuals affected by cancer
  • Reliable, detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to work weekends and occasional evenings
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and lead with confidence
