Job Title: Dev Ops Engineer Intern

Job SummaryAs a Dev Ops Intern at Owl Cyber Defense, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting the development, testing, and deployment infrastructure behind Owl’s secure software solutions. Working under the guidance of experienced Dev Ops engineers, you will assist in maintaining and automating the on‑premises toolchain that powers our cross domain and data diode products. This internship provides practical exposure to continuous integration systems, virtualization tools, Linux administration, and Dev Sec Ops best practices—all within an organization protecting the nation’s most critical networks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in managing and maintaining on-premises build and test environments.
- Support development teams using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Team City.
- Help configure, monitor, and troubleshoot virtual environments using VMware and Ansible.
- Automate repetitive tasks and workflows using scripting languages (Python, Bash).
- Collaborate with developers to integrate secure Dev Ops practices across projects.
- Gain experience managing repositories and workflows using Git and Git Lab.
- Participate in lab setup and configuration, including server installation and basic networking.
- Contribute to the documentation of Dev Ops processes and tool usage.
- Participate in agile sprints, sharing feedback and improvement ideas.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Coursework or project experience in Dev Ops, systems administration, or automation.
- Familiarity with Linux environments (Red Hat, CentOS, or Fedora).
- Basic understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Team City).
- Exposure to virtualization or containerization tools (VMware, Docker).
- Scripting experience in Python and/or Bash.
- Understanding of basic networking principles (TCP/IP).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Eagerness to learn from mentors and collaborate in a technical environment.
- Adaptable and organized in managing multiple tasks.
- Candidates must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearance.
