Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Administrator III to support a leading healthcare services organization through hybrid work in Columbia, MD
. This position is ideal for an experienced systems professional who thrives in enterprise environments, enjoys serving as a subject matter expert across multiple technologies, and is passionate about improving reliability, automation, and operational maturity.
- Serve as a senior administrator and SME across multiple enterprise platforms, such as Windows Server, virtualization, identity management, storage, messaging, and system management tools.
- Perform advanced operations, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance for core infrastructure services—including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, virtualization platforms, enterprise backups, and hybrid cloud technologies.
- Create and maintain automation (primarily Power Shell), operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles while providing mentorship to junior team members.
- Monitor system health, respond to escalated incidents, collaborate with engineering teams on project initiatives, and support after‑hours maintenance when required.
- 8‑10+ years of relevant IT systems administration experience.
- Hands‑on expertise with several enterprise technologies such as Windows Server (2019–2025), Active Directory, SAN/NAS storage, VMware/Nutanix, cloud platforms (Azure, M365, Entra ), enterprise backup solutions, and system monitoring/management tools.
- Strong proficiency with Power Shell scripting; experience with additional automation or orchestration tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with ITSM processes (change, incident, problem) and comfort documenting work, collaborating across teams, and managing time effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/ related fields or equivalent experience.
- Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 (based on experience)
