Network Development Engineer (AD3) – TS/SCI w/ Poly
Location: Columbia, MD
Compensation Range: $200,000 – $240,000 (annualized USD)
Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
We are seeking a Network Development Engineer (AD3) to support advanced network-focused software development and reverse engineering initiatives. In this role, you will serve as a hands-on engineer working across the full development lifecycle—designing, developing, prototyping, modifying, and integrating software solutions for complex network-based environments.
You will collaborate closely with analysts, operators, data scientists, and fellow software engineers to deliver tactical, real-world solutions. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving hard problems, working close to the technology, and delivering deployable capabilities within constrained and demanding environments.
ResponsibilitiesAugment and enhance existing software toolsets supporting network-based systems.
Derive, analyze, and document technical and functional requirements.
Design and build prototypes to validate technical approaches and solution feasibility.
Develop deployable software toolsets that operate within defined operational constraints.
Test software solutions and oversee testing efforts in preparation for release.
Provide sustainment and support for fielded software systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to refine capabilities and improve system performance.
Produce clear technical documentation to support development, deployment, and maintenance activities.
Skills RequirementsStrong experience working in Unix/Linux-based operating systems.
Experience reverse engineering Linux-based network devices or services.
In-depth understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP) and network traffic analysis using tools such as Wireshark.
Proven ability to develop, modify, and maintain software in C, C++, Python, and/or Assembly
.Experience supporting production software systems in operational environments.
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and Subversion
.Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Experience reverse engineering Windows-based or embedded platforms, including RTOS environments.
Experience with additional programming or scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Bash, Power Shell, Perl, C#, or Rust
.Background developing or integrating complex software systems across Linux, Windows, or embedded platforms.
Experience with vulnerability research or exploit development.
Familiarity with large-scale data collection, processing, or analysis systems.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline and 12+ years of relevant professional experience
ORMaster’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
OR16+ years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of a degree
Salary is determined by several factors, including location, education, experience, technical expertise, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $200,000 – $240,000 (annualized USD).
