Technical Writer Level II – Fort Meade, MD / Columbia, MD (TS/SCI w/ Full Scope Polygraph)

Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. Write and edit technical documentation for all project hardware and software, including installation, configuration, how‑to guide, code documentation, implementation guides, and end‑user guides. Provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation, and format technical publications from pamphlets to technical drawings.

• Originating technical defense acquisition documentation such as user manuals, training manuals, and other user community documentation. Act as liaison between the customer and teams (Configuration Management, Engineering, Project Management, Deployment/Installations, IT Operations) to define or update documentation.
• Research, gather, and organize highly technical subject matter, and express information in clear written form understandable to a wide audience.
• Test and apply concepts for accuracy in development environment, making necessary changes.
• Prepare and maintain operations documentation and technical publications in repository systems (SharePoint/Confluence).
• Maintain proficiency in grammatical rules for effective communication.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, and manuals.
• Understand basic concepts and write technical copy for various documents.
• Gather technical information and prepare written text; maintain internal documentation library.
• Use multiple word processing and presentation tools (MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials.
• Work on all phases of documentation.
• Prepare reports, responses, and briefings for a wide range of audiences.
• Coordinate layout and design of documents.

• Six (6) years experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• BA degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college/university (or 4 years additional TW experience may substitute for an associate’s degree).

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with skill set, experience, security clearance level, and educational qualifications.
