System Administrator, SME – Navstar Inc.
Navstar is seeking a motivated and experienced Linux System Administrator for a small, diverse team that provides end-to-end software, systems, and network engineering services to support a fast‑paced program.
Role Description- Design, maintain, and support operations and maintenance (O&M) activities of a large enclave comprising various hardware, software, and network components including server architecture, virtual machines, managed switches, NAS, VLANs, and VPNs.
- Develop and carry out strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture and technology with minimal impact; evaluate new technologies or equipment that can be added to agency standard solutions.
- Technical proficiency in network administration: installing, configuring, and maintaining network devices; configuring routing protocols; troubleshooting multi‑hop connectivity, throughput, and latency; setting up firewalls.
- Responsible for secure infrastructure and vulnerability corrections, data security, compliance, backups and recovery; maintain SSPs, STE/STN requirements via RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging, patching, IAVMs, McAfee, and UAM.
- Provide user‑level support, interacting with system‑savvy developers and analysts to resolve network, computer, and virtual system issues & anomalies.
- Maintain enclave documentation (network diagram, system names, IP addresses, barcodes, etc.); provide monthly activity report including system outages.
- Experience deploying and maintaining nginx; system monitoring platforms like OpenVAS, Prometheus, and Grafana; SELinux and FIPS.
- Knowledge of Latte Art/Biscotti, Netseer, SEAR logging.
Skills and Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree plus 11 years of relevant experience or equivalent.

- Familiarity with Docker, Mongo
DB, and Elastic Search;
Ansible and Git Lab;
Red Hat Satellite. - Working knowledge of software‑defined networks.
Annual base salary range: $200,000 – $250,000
. In compliance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work law, the range represents the base pay for this role. Candidates may be eligible for a hiring bonus of $10,000
