Job Summary
Front Desk Scheduler for one of Pride Health’s clients in Columbia, MD. 3‑month contract with possible extension, competitive pay ($20–$22/hr, W2). Shift Mon–Fri 8‑5.
Job Duties- Answer all incoming calls, assess needs, direct to appropriate personnel, and communicate messages accurately.
- Schedule new, referred, and returning patients in the computer system per physician/office guidelines. Cancel or reschedule appointments per physician changes and notify clinic personnel.
- Enter insurance authorizations and referral correspondence into patients’ charts and EMR.
- Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and out‑of‑pocket amounts at visit.
- Maintain primary office scheduling template for physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding, and call coverage.
- Arrange financial counseling for patients as needed.
- Demonstrate patient confidentiality and protect patient and clinic information.
- Follow policies and procedures to contribute to front office efficiency and cover other front office functions as requested.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and typing as requested by supervisor.
- May schedule outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request; obtain necessary pre‑certification as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Entry‑level position; 1–3 years’ experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Must have healthcare experience (not dental).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong patient care and compassion for the patient population.
- Preferred EMR:
Athena or IKNOWMED; will train if candidates have other EMR experience. - Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is a plus.
