Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Environmental Planning Specialist to work on a variety of exciting projects across multiple departments.

This is a part-time role (30+ hours per week) with benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a project planner, employing the planning process to develop long-range improvement plans.
  • Lead and supervise the activities of other project staff.
  • Ensure quality system tasks are executed as outlined in the quality manual, reporting to the project manager and/or team.
  • Guide technicians in the development of working drawings and project exhibits.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry guidance and regulatory standards for planning and design.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and plans for various planning projects.
  • Direct technicians in creating materials for client and public planning meetings.
  • Conduct site visits to collect essential data.
  • Attend project coordination meetings, which may occur during the day or night.
  • Present findings and elements of studies in public meetings.
  • Maintain lead contact with clients and communicate updates regarding specific projects.
  • Possibly manage certain project duties.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

A valid driver's license is required.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field from an accredited college or university.

--AND--

  • At least four (4) years of relevant work experience (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least six (6) years of related work experience.
  • Membership in AICP is preferred.
  • Expertise in preparing and managing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for transportation projects, including roadways, bridges, trails, pedestrian, bicycle, transit, or aviation.
  • Experience coordinating with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), transit authorities, and federal agencies (FHWA, FTA, FRA, FAA) as well as state natural resources agencies (DNR).
  • Background in stakeholder engagement and public involvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Salary Range: $41.35 - $53.85 hourly. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, or location.
