Job Title: AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Columbia, MD – Hybrid (onsite 2‑3X per month)
Type: 12+ months contract with strong potential for permanent conversion
Interview process: MS Teams followed by onsite in-person interview (this is REQUIRED)
OVERVIEW/PURPOSEThe AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the management, maintenance, optimization, and future design ofbyte large-scale AWS cloud environment. This role is hands‑on and infrastructure‑focused, supporting production systems while also helping design and improve future cloud architecture. The engineer will work closely with Network Engineers and other cross‑functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of AWS‑based systems.
A major focus of this role is optimizing the AWS environment to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs, while maintaining stability and reliability.
- Manage, maintain, and support production AWS cloud infrastructure in a hybrid environment
- Design and contribute to future AWS cloud architecture, including improvements to scalability, availability, and cost efficiency
- Perform system installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting across cloud infrastructure
- Support disaster recovery strategies, backup processes, and AWS recovery procedures
- Monitor system health, performance, and availability using Dynatrace (Datadog or Prometheus acceptable)
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure incidents; perform root cause analysis
- Optimize AWS environments with a strong focus on cost reduction and operational efficiency
- Support infrastructure automation and infrastructure‑as‑code initiatives (goal is to provision infrastructure with code)
