Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Civil/Environmental Engineer in our Washington, DC, or Columbia, MD office. The candidate will work on large and complex civil/environmental projects involving innovative civil design with unique water management and geotechnical challenges at contaminated sites, landfills, coal combustion residuals sites, and dams. The candidate will also take a leading role in project management tasks for various civil design projects involving technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Developing and/or reviewing technical drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and analyses for civil design, site development, grading, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment controls, especially as related to environmental sites.
- Completing or reviewing civil and stormwater management design packages, including detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
- Preparing stormwater and erosion and sediment control designs for permitting in the State of Maryland and local Maryland jurisdictions.
- Performing stormwater infrastructure design and analysis.
- Performing fieldwork such as soil, surface water and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, and remediation treatment system operation and maintenance.
- Assisting with environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.
- Conducting data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
- Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Performing task‑level or project management responsibilities.
- Developing strong collaborative relationships and interacting with client representatives and internal Geosyntec colleagues.
- Coordinating work efforts with multi‑disciplinary project teams.
- Supporting lead generation, business development, recruiting, staff development, and mentoring consistently with our sell‑manage‑do business model.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related discipline. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)
- At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience performing and reviewing civil design and site development. (required)
- Familiarity with stormwater and erosion and sediment control regulations and understanding of the permitting process in Maryland. (preferred)
- Experience with relevant engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydro
CAD, SWMM, HY8, and HEC‑RAS). (preferred) - Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
