LHH is seeking a Bilingual Financial Aid Assistant to support newly enrolled students by guiding them through the financial aid process and helping them understand their options for funding their education. This role works closely with the Admissions Department to ensure a seamless transition from enrollment to financial aid processing. The Bilingual Financial Aid Assistant provides financial aid guidance in both English and Spanish, helping ensure that language is not a barrier for students accessing educational funding.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the Admissions team to assist newly enrolled students with the financial aid process from enrollment through funding approval.
- Provide bilingual support to students and families in English and [Spanish/other language], explaining financial aid requirements, timelines, and funding options.
- Guide students through completing the FAFSA and other required financial aid documentation.
- Review financial aid applications and documents for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
- Counsel students on available funding options including federal aid, grants, scholarships, payment plans, and other financing resources.
- Prepare and communicate financial aid award information to students in a clear and supportive manner.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Respond to student inquiries via phone, email, and in person regarding financial aid status and requirements.
- Monitor outstanding financial aid requirements and follow up with students to ensure timely completion.
- Collaborate with the Admissions Department to align financial aid steps with the student enrollment process.
- Assist in translating or explaining financial aid forms and communications when necessary.
- Stay current on federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Education, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in financial aid, admissions, student services, or a related administrative role (higher education experience preferred).
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.
- Familiarity with FAFSA and federal student aid programs is a plus.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain financial aid information clearly to students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential student information responsibly.
- Must be able to commit to working one late evening per week and some Saturday’s
