Position: Aggregate Certified Nursing Aide 2

Job Overview:

The Montana Veterans’ Home is a Medicare/Medicaid and Veterans’ Administration certified facility that has been providing services to Veterans since 1896. Admission is for honorably discharged veterans who qualify for skilled/intermediate nursing care or domiciliary self-care living. Spouses of veterans may be admitted on a space-available basis.

This position is a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). The CNA assists residents with daily living activities.

Responsibilities include:

measuring and recording residents’ vital signs, assisting residents with daily living activities, and providing compassionate support to residents/family members.

Essential Functions:
  • Resident Care (90%): measures and records residents’ vital signs, assists residents with daily living activities, provides compassionate support, measures input and output, collects specimens for testing, answers call light for assistance, and responds to residents’ needs.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (5%): orients new residents and new CNA staff, completes other nursing care tasks as requested.
Physical and Environmental Demands:

Work is of medium demand, involving lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, stooping, twisting, and extensive standing. Must be able to lift 50# occasionally, 15-20# frequently, push/pull 60# occasionally, and reach forward and below frequently.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the aging process and basic anatomy.
  • Knowledge of caregiver role and infection controls.
  • Knowledge of residents’ rights and confidentiality principles.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to provide residents with quality care.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and empathy.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years CNA experience.
  • Other equivalent combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Salary and Benefits :

$25.13 - $25.13 Hourly. Benefits Package Eligibility:
