SUMMARY
The purpose of the 2nd SHIFT Team Leader role is to provide guidance and support on an ongoing basis to production associates in the Mag Stop Value Stream. The success of the person in this role is vital to the continuous improvement efforts in the area(s), as well as the success of Warner Electric to meet and exceed customer expectations. This is a "working leader" where 40% of their time is spent operating within a team-based manufacturing cell.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Attend designated external course on supervision/leadership as determined by management and then at least once annually.
- May be required to spend limited time on an alternate shift(s) for training and understanding of daily priorities.
- Ensure the work area and associates maintain the appropriate level of 5S at all times and the Daily Management boards are updated regularly.
- Coordinate with Supervisors to ensure a safe working environment exists at all times.
- Retrain associates when necessary to ensure appropriate safety behavior is established, understood and recognized.
- All safety concerns should be brought to Supervision immediately.
- Lead the area/shift in addressing any quality concerns or defects that may develop throughout the shift.
- May conduct training sessions with the associates to raise awareness and resolve quality issues.
- Champion standard work methodology and ensure consistent standard work is followed; identify and problem-solve when it is not.
- Assist and govern the training of all new associates to ensure consistency and transferred understanding.
- Training covers standard work and rotation, changeover and setup of machines, maintaining and operating machines, understanding daily priorities (safety start-up check sheets, first piece process, audit and end of shift line stock/cleanup), ensuring correct procedures for quality parts, documenting necessary paperwork, and updating Daily Management boards daily.
- Lead by example and provide coaching to all associates to ensure policies and procedures are followed during the shift.
- Examples include safe work practices, time management, adherence to plant work rules, and quality processes.
- If coaching is not effective, notify the Supervisor for guidance and support.
- Open to cross-training on multiple Teams/part numbers; recognize ongoing cross-training is not limited to assigned value stream area.
- Act as a primary coordinator with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to identify areas for improvement and resolve issues as they arise.
- Maintain open communication with fellow associates to share concerns or ideas with Supervision promptly; address issues related to personnel, safety, quality, delivery, productivity, or general concerns.
- Schedule meetings with supervision as needed to address concerns.
- Interface with the previous shift Team Leader(s) and other Team Leaders to pass on relevant information.

High School Diploma or GED required. Must be considered current expert in the area and considered a Champion of Lean. Previous experience required. Post-secondary education preferred.
