Overview
As part of the Environmental Services department at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City, IN, this position is non-benefited - varies - PRN - as needed. This role is responsible for performing environmental services related tasks to provide a clean and safe environment for patients, family members, guests, healthcare team members, and other associates. The role may work as part of a team or individually to clean office areas, exam rooms, public areas and restrooms, ancillary areas, patient care rooms, and complete special projects as assigned while utilizing specialized equipment and chemicals.
Staff must follow all departmental and hospital-wide policies and procedures including standard operating procedures, work instructions, safety procedures, patient care procedures and patient privacy policies, and adhere to quality expectations and standards.
- Exceed service excellence expectations by performing environmental services tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Clean and maintain office areas, exam rooms, public areas, restrooms, ancillary areas, patient care rooms, and other assigned areas.
- Utilize specialized equipment and chemicals in daily tasks.
- Follow all departmental and hospital-wide policies and procedures, including SOPs, safety procedures, patient care procedures, and privacy policies.
- Maintain professional appearance and communicate clearly with patients, family members, guests, staff, and coworkers.
- Work as part of a team or independently and be willing to complete special projects as assigned.
High school diploma/GED preferred, or a minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.
Experience- Minimum of 1 year experience in hospitality services, customer services, or general labor preferred.
- Previous experience in environmental services (housekeeping) in a medical or hospital setting preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, staff, patients, and visitors according to company standards.
- General knowledge of cleaning and customer service skills; detail oriented and willing to follow procedures, perform repetitive tasks, and work independently.
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and assigned holiday schedule.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push up to 300 lbs.; frequent standing, walking, stooping, and bending; extensive walking required for certain EVS assignments.
