Responsibilities
  • Oversee OGL logistics, maintain inventory, and transport the mobile gear library trailer.
  • Manage gear inventory, memberships, reservations, and check‑in/out processes using MyTurn online platform.
  • Inspect returned gear and perform necessary maintenance and repairs to extend gear longevity.
  • Drive a truck and trailer combo to transport the mobile OGL to different locations.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to OGL members and the public in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Manage risks related to activities and gear, providing thorough explanations and risk briefings during check‑out.
  • Assist with special events for mixed‑age groups and partner organizations.
  • Plan, organize, and implement OGL events.
  • During events, ensure the safety, comfort, and progress of participants and staff in various activities.
  • May drive a district van to transport participants to field sites.
  • Handle setup, takedown, and cleanup duties as required.
  • Respond to accidents and incidents according to procedures and act as Incident Commander in emergencies.
  • Act as a mandatory reporter and adhere to all mandatory reporting guidelines.
  • Instruct various recreational classes as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation and/or youth‑serving programs (1–3 years) or a related degree.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude, good sense of humor, and the ability to foster strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Experience facilitating groups using outdoor gear in various settings.
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift equipment and supplies.
  • Strong team player with the ability to create positive relationships with staff and the public.
  • Knowledge of recreation program risk management, Leave No Trace practices, and outdoor gear maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of online inventory systems and strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to pass federal background and motor vehicle checks.
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification (required) and preference for Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification.
