Compensation: $30.80 - $30.80 per hour

Job SummaryTessera is seeking a skilled, dependable Carpenter Roofer who takes pride in quality workmanship and teamwork. The Carpenter Roofer inspects, assesses, repairs, and maintains roof systems and related exterior components across USAFA facilities. Primary responsibility is roofing (shingles, metal, single‑ply membranes, slate, coatings); when roofing work is not required, the role performs general carpentry duties to support base facilities. This role values safety, attention to detail, and a positive, solution‑oriented approach to sustaining mission‑critical infrastructure.
TypicalDuties
- Inspect roofs, diagnose leaks/deterioration, and recommend repair or replacement.
- Repair and install roofing systems: flashing, underlayment, shingles, single‑ply membranes, coatings, and sheet metal.
- Install rooftop equipment attachments per specifications without compromising roof integrity.
- Perform preventative maintenance: clear drains, check fasteners and flashing, replace worn components.
- Apply waterproofing and reflective coatings; fabricate and fit flashings and counter‑flashings.
- Maintain work documentation, material estimates, and CMMS (e.g., Maximo) records.
- Perform general carpentry tasks (doors, trim, siding, decking, interior/exterior wood repairs) when not engaged in roofing.
- Follow fall protection, PPE, and all USAFA safety and site procedures.
- Minimum three years of commercial roofing experience across multiple systems.
- Proficient with roofing and carpentry hand and power tools; ability to read basic blueprints and manufacturer specifications.
- Proficiency in structural framing, finish carpentry, and use of carpentry tools.
- OSHA 10/30, fall protection/harness certification preferred.
- Manufacturer membrane installer certification or certified roofing credentials preferred.
- Documented carpentry experience; CMMS (Maximo) experience preferred.
- Ability to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time; may be required without assistance.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for several hours, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
- A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
