Job Duties
Acts as a Role Model for County values and understands Clear Creek County's role in providing service to its citizens and visitors.
Provides services to the community and citizens and is aware of their needs. Coordinates office activities to deliver community services such as patrol services, crime prevention, preservation of the peace, protection of persons and property, emergency communications, and enforcement of the laws and ordinances of the county and state of Colorado.
Relates to diverse groups and individuals professionally and builds ongoing trust with others. Fosters informal contacts/relationships to further the Sheriff's Office mission. Demonstrates knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations as they pertain to the specific duties of this position. Represents the Sheriff's Office in a positive and professional manner
Utilizes a clear and concise writing style and correctly fills out forms and reports. Speaks clearly and can be easily understood. Provides analysis information in staff work, critical information promptly and identifies the tone and meaning of what others are trying to say. Provides accurate feedback about what others are saying. Analyzes actual needs.
Analyzes operational data and reports to ascertain Office success in attaining customer service and community policing goals.
Communicates effectively to individuals and groups from various educational and cultural backgrounds.
Completes, processes, and maintains a variety of records, charts, and logs that are required in the performance of daily operations
Makes effective presentations and discusses problems and possible solutions as required.
Demonstrates an interest in what others say by listening to other's ideas fully and waiting for others to understand before proceeding toward a solution.
Works to build relationships/rapport with other team members both within the work group, the division, the Office, and across departments
Puts the success of the team ahead of personal goals or interests and appreciates and encourages team members
Evaluates the training needs of assigned personnel and directs corrective action
Interprets and applies relative policies and procedures and plans, implements and evaluates the effectiveness of personnel and operating procedures
Supervises, coordinates, and plans the daily activities of subordinates effectively.

Works safely in the completion of assignments
Supervises the activities and personnel assigned to the division.
Makes recommendations for changes in policies and procedures to ensure the personnel have the safest working environment
Periodic review and development of operational and employee performance objectives
Demonstrates knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods, and activities of the Sheriff's Office as they pertain to the responsibilities of the Division Commander
Utilizes thorough knowledge of the methods of criminal investigation and the processes involved
Applies knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws that apply to specified division assignment
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all areas of law enforcement techniques, criminal behavior, legal rights, and other pertinent matters of law enforcement
Utilizes skill in the proper use of firearms
Displays knowledge of the principles of organization, management, planning, development, and implementation of responsibilities as they relate to the activities of the position
Keeps abreast of any changes in policy, methods, regulations, standards, equipment/supply needs, etc.
Admits when the answer is not known and asks for help when needed
Respects the confidentiality of information or concerns of others
Stands up for their point of view in a positive manner and experiments and is willing to try new solutions to problems
