The Manager, Analytical works within the Analytical Services department. This supervisory role leads QC staff, oversees sample analysis for Production (Mead and Longmont) and Pilot Plant, ensuring timely, accurate results using quantitative and qualitative methods. It also manages staff recruitment, training, scheduling, equipment maintenance and continuous improvement activities.

Base salary: $110,000 – $125,000 per year.

• Supports an EHS culture for the Analytical Services team and the BSC business, reviewing QC Chemist activities, proposing opportunities for improvement, and completing all actions.
• Manages all QC chemist actions related to in‑process evaluation and final product activities from Production and Pilot Plant, ensuring high accuracy and timely results.
• Recruits, selects, hires, coaches, and continuously develops the QC chemist group, building capability and future talent.
• Ensures appropriate staffing and scheduling for both Mead and Longmont QC, monitoring shift team scheduling for complete coverage.
• Oversees training of QC Chemists to meet BSC standards for each career level.
• Evaluates performance of QC Chemists, coaching and mentoring on technical and behavioral levels to build team unity.
• Sets daily priorities with R&D, Pilot Plant, Production, Business Development, QA, and the Director of Analytical Services.
• Independently identifies process gaps within Analytical Services, determining remediation, documentation, training, and equipment needs.
• Acts as sole Analytical Services representation in troubleshooting Pilot Plant and Production processes.
• Tracks information on issues identified during data reviews, determines root cause, and implements countermeasures for continuous improvement.
• Reviews analytical standardizations and approves for use.
• Participates in data review for raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
• Participates in on‑call reviews.
• Coordinates instrument PMs and PVs performed by QC Chemists and/or Analytical Chemists.
• Notifies QA, Production, and Pilot Plant of out‑of‑spec results.
• Holds QC Chemist meetings to discuss safety concerns and testing issues.
• Participates in data review for in‑process samples as needed.
• Represents the Director of Analytical Services in their absence.

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field, minimum 5 years of hands‑on analytical chemistry testing, and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

• Minimum 7 years of QC experience.
• Experience supporting a ầm 24/7 manufacturing operation.
• Experience in a chemistry laboratory environment.
• Ability to respond to questions or issues for 24/7 operation (on‑call reviewer).
• Experience with GC, NMR, Auto Titration, HPLC, IC, and ICP.
• Familiarity with Preventative Maintenance and Performance Verification programs.
• Working knowledge of glove boxes, fume hoods, ultrapure water systems, and compressed gases.
• Experience with Quality Management Systems and Lean/Six Sigma methodology.

This position is laboratory based, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. Proper PPE is required at all times. The employee will spend extended periods standing and must move 25 lb. without assistance.
